Tree swings are simple to make so long as you have a sturdy tree and proper tree swing! Let theLAShop show you how it’s done.

Picking your Tree
Picking the right tree is essential to your backyard tree swing. To be completely safe check around your tree and remove any rocks, shrugs, or obstructions that the swing might hit while swinging or if you fall or jump from the tree swing. Create a safe area around the swing so you can ensure safe landings. You want a completely smooth space full of sand or soft grass.
Test each branch to find a healthy, strong, piece. Be sure the branch is at least eight to 10 inches in diameter and is no more than 10-15 feet above the ground. Pick a branch that is as parallel to the ground as possible. Use a branch that is long enough to attach the swing 3-5 feet from the trunk.
Tip: Never use fruit trees or evergreen trees as they are prone to breakage.
Put together your swing
Your swing will come with a detailed set of instructions. Your tree swing can be snapped together in just a few simple steps. Please follow the picture guide as follows and test out the swing before you allow small children to use it.
Test Before Use
Measure the ropes on each side of the swing and confirm that they are the same size so that the swing is level. Adjust the ropes if they are uneven as an unstable swing can cause the rider to fall.
Your saucer swing can hold up to 700 pounds. We suggest that no more than 3 children ride it at a time and that they never try to flip the swing over the branch. Test the strength of your swing using an adult before you let children ride.
Continuously test the swing and inspect it for signs of wear and damage. Also keep an eye on the tree branch and look for any signs of breakage. If the tree branch begins to bend or rip, remove the tree swing and hook it to another branch.
