High-intensity discharge (HID) lights are the best lights to use when growing plants inside. This is because they offer artificial light that is very close to natural sunlight in wavelength and intensity. There are two different lights available from us that are both HID types. The first is the HPS or high-pressure sodium light, and the second is the MH or metal halide light.
Cutting the cost of using HID Lights
When you are using HID lights for your garden, you may want to use a secondary light to help you cut the operating costs. Using a lower wattage light, such as LED lights, to simulate sunrise and sunset can cut the cost of electricity for your more powerful lights. All you have to do is have the lower cost lights come on for two hours at the beginning and end of your light cycle, instead of your more expensive lights.
