What Are the Best Grow Lights for My Plants?

No comment yet

To find the best grow light for your plants, there are a few things you have to take into consideration.  The first is the type of plant you are trying to grow.  Plants that have large leaves need lower levels of light, so they should do fine under fluorescent or LED lights.  Plants with smaller leaves need brighter light and would grow best under metal halide or high pressure sodium lights.  You also have to take into consideration the environment that the plants find natural.  Plants that are from the desert, such as cacti, need to have a stronger light, because that is what they have in nature.  Tropical plants often need less light, because they are used to growing under trees in a rainforest.

What are the Best Grow Lights for Growing Plants Outside?

If you plant species that are native to your area, then you will not need any extra grow lights outside.  If your plants are from a warmer, or more southern climate, than there are several ways to determine the best grow lights to use.  Plants that thrive in the tropical and sub-tropical regions need to have at least 12 hours of light, every day.  You can use a metal halide or high pressure sodium light that is suspended above the plants, to boost the natural light they get in the northern areas.  You may also want to include your light inside a grow tent, to make sure that they have not only the correct amount of light, but the right temperature and humidity.
